Back in my home town further north on The Legendary Pacific Coast and reflecting on a fine weekend in Port Stephens as rain and hail thunder on the tin roof of our country home.
Such a contrast to the blue, blue, shiny blue of beautiful Port Stephens last weekend when PS shone putting its best foot forward for us and other travellers relaxing on, in and by the water or walking or cycling the spectacular national parks of the region.
Exercise was a must after some very good dining at The Little Beach Boat House; The Sandpiper Restaurant, Cookabarra Barramundi Farm, Lil Buddha Chinese restaurant, The Tea Gardens Boat Shed, The Little Nel Cafe at The Nelson and the Inner Light Tearooms.
There was no shortage of adventure with the more energetic among us taking to a Port Stephens Mountain Bike Adventures, a climb to the top of Tomaree Mountain and Lookout, and an exhilarating Sand Dune Adventures quad bike ride across the largest moving coastal sand dune in the Southern Hemisphere.
We kicked back on the Tamboi Queen Cruises ferry transfer from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens return with a great lunch in between and ran to the ferry for the return journey with huge luscious ice cream cones from the local creamery dripping down our wrists.
#mylegendarydrive series saw us posting across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter in our spare time. Phew! Each evening we welcomed peaceful sleeps in the comfort of our accommodation first at the Halifax Holiday Park on Little Beach and later at The Nelson Resort and Conference Centre atop a hill overlooking the Nelson Bay Marina. A great home away from home with excellent food that always adds to the shine.
Four days was good. We really started to feel at home and settle into the pace of this holiday haven. Next time no less than a week with the family in tow and some more time for shopping and afternoon siestas!
Thank you Port Stephens.
