Witness the sights and sounds from 10am with various Celtic/Scottish activities including massed pipe band displays, highland dancing, highland games - even trace your own Scottish heritage with the Clans information booths. The 18th Annual Gathering of the Clans is on again this year and will be held in the NSW Central Coast town of Norah Head on Saturday 6 September. Throughout the day there will be live entertainment, including pipe band performances, Highland dancing and medieval displays. There will be craft stalls showcasing Scottish and local handicrafts. Clan stalls for those who would like to trace their Scottish heritage, activities for the kiddies, and with food and drinks available at the oval.

This year they have 25 local Aboriginal artists participating across 10 major venues including Crowne Plaza, Hunter Valley Resort and eight other major venues in the Pokolbin and Broke areas of the beautiful Hunter Valley. 2014 marks the sixth event for WUPA@Wanaruah. Each year the initiative is facilitated by Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation - an Aboriginal, not for profit community organisation operating to benefit local Aboriginal people of the Upper Hunter. They have the distinction of being the longest running, 100 per cent handmade market in the winery area. In fact, it is one that tour buses regularly plan into their itineraries. Every item in every stall is handmade by the person selling it to you and they love to talk about their work and ideas. They take great pride in the fact that when you buy something from here, you are taking a little bit of the Hunter home with you. It is an opportunity for the general public to view the operations of the Rail Motor Society Depot and Museum at Paterson. The Rail Motor Society was establish in 1984. The collection spans 1926 to 1961, and includes a 42 foot Rail Motor from 1961, as well as a 720 Class Driving Trailer Car. The 13 collections of different rail Motor and Trailer Cars are a must for all train enthusiasts. Tours are also available.

The three kilometre loop course will offer runners or walkers the opportunity to choose to complete a Hardcore Sand 10 lap (30 kilometres), Crazy Sand five lap (15 kilometres), Desert Sand two lap (six kilometres) or Hot Sand one lap (three kilometres). Staged from the beach near the Merewether Baths, the event will give spectators ample opportunity to get close to the action, have a coffee or just chill on the beach while their loved ones compete.

The exhibition will run for four weeks which will allow plenty of visitors to have a winter treat. Local photographers will exhibit works showcasing the Gaol which will also be available for purchase. The entries will be competing for a first prize of AUD2,000 donated by the Heritage Guest House at South West Rocks. The Gala Opening Day is on 10 August, with music, activities and food for sale. Just when he decides to kill off many of the imaginary dole recipients because matters are getting a bit too risky, welfare investigators show up. The hilarity and comic timing continue to the very end of Cash on Delivery. Tickets go on sale Monday August 19.

Fri 12 September, 2014 - Sun 14 September, 2014The Wildside Festival is a weekend of outdoor activities featuring free guided walks through the spectacular wildflowers and natural environment surrounding the Hawks Nest area. There are also talks on the local koalas, birdlife and the wildflowers that will be in bloom. There will be a Golf the Wildside event at Hawks Nest Golf Club on the Friday and a spotlighting walk in the evening. Community activities will centre around the Hawks Nest Community Hall on Saturday and Walk on the Wildside bushwalks will depart from this locality as well. Sat 13 September, 2014 - Sun 14 September, 2014One of the most exciting events on the Australian music calendar is the annual Kendall National Violin Competition. The Competition's history dates from 1999 when renowned Australian luthier Graham Caldersmith made the generous offer to donate a concert violin each year as a prize. Young violinists (maximum age 23 on 1 January) who are citizens or residents of Australia are invited to compete for this fine instrument which is made from Australian timbers. Many of the approximately 150 young violinists who have competed to date, particularly past winners and finalists, have gone on to major achievements in Australia and overseas. The Competition is administered by a small committee of volunteers under the Artistic Directorship of Violinist Goetz Richter, Associate Professor of Violin at the Conservatorium of Sydney. Since 2004, semi-finals have been held as public performances in Sydney. The final is always held in Kendall, the home of the Competition.

The inaugural National Rugby Championships will pit Australia's premier Rugby talent against one another. The match will showcase some of Australia's rugby superstars and talented up and coming players. All signs are pointing to a hard hitting and entertaining match.
Sun 14 September, 2014The Ballina Shire Relay for Life Committee has organised the fitness challenge. Funds raised will be going to the Relay for Life's fundraising efforts to support The Cancer Council's research and support programs. The 6.8 kilometre obstacle course has been designed to be achievable for everyone, from those who enjoy casual exercise right through to the more elite athletes who can vie for prizes. The course starts and finishes at Lighthouse Beach in front of the Ballina Surf Club, with the route taking you through the park near the Marine Rescue Tower, Pop Denison Park, the Shaws Bay stairs, Missingham Park and returning to Lighthouse Beach via North Wall. There are eight categories with teams like father/mother and children (for children 12 to 16), and the more usual teams of men, women and mixed in age groups of Open (17 to 39) and Masters (over 40).

Fri 19 September, 2014 - Sat 20 September, 2014The Stroud Rodeo is a premier rodeo event included in the top ten in Australia, attracting more than 800 competitors and 1,000 entries. Events include bull riding, bronco riding, bulldogging and barrel racing. A full campdrafting program is also held in conjunction with the rodeo. A "Maximum Points" venue on the National Circuit, the Stroud Rodeo puts forward prize money of more than AUD30,000. The event enables donations to various charities which have exceeded AUD350,000 since its inception, with Cancer research being the main beneficiary. The Stroud Rodeo is an international standard venue providing all weather seating for spectators. Visitors are not allowed to bring their own alcohol and no glass is permitted at the venue. It draws orchid lovers from as far away as Queensland and Coffs Harbour to view the exquisite displays with over 400 orchids, and pick up a bargain on the hundreds of propagated items available. Fri 19 September, 2014 - Thu 31 December, 201550 large scale koala sculptures, will dot the landscape from the mountains to the sea to create the Hello Koalas Public Art Sculpture Trail. Celebrating one of Australia's iconic animals - the koala - and the outstanding work of the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital - the first facility in the world solely dedicated to care and conserve the koala, and based right here in Port Macquarie. The koala sculptures are made of fibreglass, hand painted and decorated by celebrity artists, professional artists and community groups. So don't be surprised if you come across one of the creatively decorated koalas resting in parkland, lazing by the beach, waiting outside the shops, or playing with school kids. It's koalarageously clever!

You'll help feed and move the chickens, water and feed the sows and their piglets, collect some eggs, and then spend time in the market garden sowing seeds or mulching some beds. After all this activity, you will then harvest fresh produce for lunch and sit down to enjoy a meal garnered from the Near River fields. The menu is likely to include soup, salad and pork or chicken with a beverage. Near River Produce is a 8.5 hectare property located 45 kilometres inland from Port Macquarie along sealed roads. Wauchope is the nearest town. Near River farm organically and their produce supplies some of the region's leading restaurants. Wear sensible shoes and tale provisions including water. The fascinating Mungo walking track, in Myall Lakes National Park, is a feast for the body, mind and senses. A delightful collection of walks combine to create this absorbing track which joins Mungo Brush campground on the shores of Bombah Broadwater to Hawks Nest. It's a long yet easy walk, taking in some important Aboriginal and post-colonial heritage sites, landforms and diverse vegetation.

It is a community event run by volunteers with all proceeds going to local charity. The triathlon attracts international professional triathletes as well as beginners and everyone in between. The event has been running for over 25 years.

The Club has a well deserved and long standing reputation for its organisation of Hillclimb and sprint kart events. The facilities for competitors are outstanding including canteen services and overnight camping. Mon 29 September, 2014Hosted by Northern NSW Football, the FFA National Youth Championships for both boys and girls, are national tournaments with teams from all member State Federations of FFA competing against one another to reign as National Champions. The Championships are an integral part of the FFA national youth development and identification process providing a showcase for the best 13 and 14 year old boys and 14 and 15 year old girls from all states. The National Youth Championhships for boys will be held from 29th September 2014 with the next National Youth Championships for girls set to be held from the 7th July 2014.

Free entry - a great day out for all! Iluka Pool and Sports Association Inc (IPSA) is a not for profit organisation committed to raising funds to help procure a pool and sporting complex for Iluka. This is a huge task, but with their small and dedicated committee...and those they rope in to help from time to time, they are confident their goal will be achievable! The collaboration and co-operation from the local community has been overwhelming and they appreciate everyone's support and enthusiasm.
