The four-day festival to be held in Dungog is a celebration of Australian and International film making and will showcase emerging and student filmmakers. It will also include screenings of the most interesting Australian and international films. Other events being planned as part of the festival include, a drive-in cinema, a long table dinner under the stars and evening markets. The Festival is expected to attract cinema-goers, film professionals and students. Dungog is an easy two and a half hour drive from Sydney and is the location of the oldest still-operating purpose-built cinema in Australia. Visitors to the town can also enjoy the beautiful surrounding areas, including the World Heritage-listed Barrington Tops National Park and the Chichester State Forest. This event is a first class (Athletics Australia accredited) event. Events will attract over 3000 competitors to our region. The course is arguably one of the best in Australia. This is one of our strong marketing points. There are very few events run with a total waterfront aspect and boasting total road closure. With all aspects taken into account this could easily become the most desirable running event in Australia. The Half Marathon competitors will complete two loops between Warners Bay and Speers Point. The Fun Run will complete one loop. It is waterfront for the complete distance and boasts spectacular views across magnificent Lake Macquarie. The surface is extremely good and the terrain is basically flat with some minor undulations. This is an exceptional runner's course.

Artists will include AñA Wojak, Dan McDonnell, Gery Mews, Lindsay Hunt, Rikki Fisher, Steven Perrin, Theodore Kennett-Raj, Dawn Thirlaway and Michael Hallam. Included in the exhibition are works by Anna Nordström and R. J. Poole. Anna and Rod are life partners as well as artists, with Anna primarily a painter and Rod, a photographer. Each has a very different arts practice. The works of the artists will be exhibited together for the first time. At the rear of the gallery, the group showing will continue, expanding the artist pool to include others from the Northern Rivers, including new works by Susan Gourley.

This year, the Ballina Jockey Club celebrates its 100th birthday and as part of the celebrations will host the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour. The Ballina celebrations will commence at the Big Prawn, where all community members are welcomed to see the Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy between 9am and 10am. Following this, the Cup will visit residents at St Andrews Retirement Home. Between 12.30 and 4pm, the Ballina RSL Club invites everyone to take part in photo opportunities with the Emirates Melbourne Cup. A variety of activities will be held for adults and children, including free face painting, Clowning Around Balloon Twister, free jockey caps for the kids, 'A Wacky Day at the Races' children's show, and free raffles. Ballina RSL also offers the community the chance to support the local charity, Riding for the Disabled, with collection buckets on the day.

Sports crews will contest a one kilometre Chase Race and 100 metre Splash 'n' Dash on Saturday afternoon, with a full day of 200 metre sprint racing on Sunday. This event has attracted dragon boat clubs from NSW and Queensland as well as community teams drawn from the local area. This is an officially sanctioned Dragon Boats NSW regatta. Spectators are invited to come along and experience this family friendly, no alcohol sporting event.

From day one this memorial set out to showcase the life and enthusiasm for the water and friendly competition that Jeff had, and it has succeeded in abundance. Drawing some of the worlds best bodyboarders and talented locals, the event has a renowned respect amongst top performing competitors. Sat 30 August, 2014 - Sun 31 August, 2014On the last weekend of August each year the Quota Club of Alstonville-Wollongbar holds an Arts and Craft Fair at the Alstonville Community and Leisure Centre. The Annual Alstonville Quota Art, Craft and Garden Fair showcases local and interstate artisans and craftspeople, with more than 60 stalls which include high quality fashion accessories, jewellery, creative bags, and timber works with demonstrations by stallholders. It is a major fundraiser for the club which allows them to donate around AUD20,000 each year to local community projects, especially disadvantaged women and children and the hearing impaired. They are excited to extend their craft fair of 2014 to include a garden fair. The garden fair is in conjunction with the nursery Industry and will be held in the Apex Pavilion. The Quota Cafe and Barbecue will provide refreshments including some delicious homemade treats.

You'll help feed and move the chickens, water and feed the sows and their piglets, collect some eggs, and then spend time in the market garden sowing seeds or mulching some beds. After all this activity, you will then harvest fresh produce for lunch and sit down to enjoy a meal garnered from the Near River fields. The menu is likely to include soup, salad and pork or chicken with a beverage. Near River Produce is a 8.5 hectare property located 45 kilometres inland from Port Macquarie along sealed roads. Wauchope is the nearest town. Near River farm organically and their produce supplies some of the region's leading restaurants. With over 130 vehicles on display, the line up includes motorbikes, trucks, utes and old machinery.
