Gathering of the Clans

Witness the sights and sounds from 10am with various Celtic/Scottish activities including massed pipe band displays, highland dancing, highland games - even trace your own Scottish heritage with the Clans information booths. The 18th Annual Gathering of the Clans is on again this year and will be held in the NSW Central Coast town of Norah Head on Saturday 6 September. Throughout the day there will be live entertainment, including pipe band performances, Highland dancing and medieval displays. There will be craft stalls showcasing Scottish and local handicrafts. Clan stalls for those who would like to trace their Scottish heritage, activities for the kiddies, and with food and drinks available at the oval.

Central Coast Four Wheel Drive Caravan Camping and Boat Show

Central Coast Ukefest

The Central Coast Ukulele festival is back at The Entrance and is now a two day event. Saturday on the Sails Stage will see free workshops and Ukulele clubs strumming and Sunday both the Memorial Park Stage and the Sails stage will be in full Ukefest mode. This festival is unique in that it brings people from all ages and walks of life together to make and enjoy music. Equine Inspired Exhibitions at NRCG

Just when he decides to kill off many of the imaginary dole recipients because matters are getting a bit too risky, welfare investigators show up. Coffs Harbour Running Festival

Held on a bush trail on the Coffs Creek walkway, the flat, shady course is ideal for runners. The picturesque track hugs the beautiful Coffs Creek and competitors run over floating boardwalks, through swamp forests of mangrove, casuarina and paperbark trees from the centre of town to the coast and back. The event raises funds for local children's charities including Life Education Australia, Coffs Coast Autism, Camp Quality and the Early Childhood Intervention Program Coffs Harbour.

Coates Hire Rally Australia

Kendall National Violin Competition

The Competition's history dates from 1999 when renowned Australian luthier Graham Caldersmith made the generous offer to donate a concert violin each year as a prize. Young violinists (maximum age 23 on 1 January) who are citizens or residents of Australia are invited to compete for this fine instrument which is made from Australian timbers. Many of the approximately 150 young violinists who have competed to date, particularly past winners and finalists, have gone on to major achievements in Australia and overseas. The Competition is administered by a small committee of volunteers under the Artistic Directorship of Violinist Goetz Richter, Associate Professor of Violin at the Conservatorium of Sydney. Since 2004, semi-finals have been held as public performances in Sydney. The final is always held in Kendall, the home of the Competition.

50 large scale koala sculptures, will dot the landscape from the mountains to the sea to create the Hello Koalas Public Art Sculpture Trail. Celebrating one of Australia's iconic animals - the koala - and the outstanding work of the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital - the first facility in the world solely dedicated to care and conserve the koala, and based right here in Port Macquarie. The koala sculptures are made of fibreglass, hand painted and decorated by celebrity artists, professional artists and community groups. So don't be surprised if you come across one of the creatively decorated koalas resting in parkland, lazing by the beach, waiting outside the shops, or playing with school kids. It's koalarageously clever!

Casino Carp Muster

Carp are once again on the agenda as the annual muster is about to happen for the Richmond, Wilson's and Bungawalbin catchments. This year the Casino RSM Social Fishing Club is offering AUD4,000 in prizes for some of the best Carp catches over weekend of the Casino Carp Muster. Carp is a well-known pest because of its destructive bottom-feeding habits, which is why it's a great idea to fish them out of the rivers. You can register at the Casino RSM Club or online at the Casino RSM Fishing Club website. Weigh-in will be behind the Casino RSM Club and a final draw will be held on Sunday, 3pm.

Bikes, Coffee and Community - Pop Up Coffee Shop and Social Ride

To celebrate NSW Bike Week a Pop Up Coffee Shop just for cyclists will give the cycling community a place to meet, go for a ride, share ideas and drink coffee. All riders are welcome and anyone with ideas on how to make cycling safer and more enjoyable in the Ballina Shire. An 11 kilometre Social Ride commences at 9am. Register at the Pop Up Coffee Shop at 9am sharp. The Pop Up Coffee Shop will be open from 9am to 11am. At the southern entrance to the North Wall, East Ballina Council is developing a new Bike Plan. This is a chance to have your say on cycling infrastructure and facilities, as input is sought to identify the priorities for the plan. Barefoot Roasters will provide one free coffee to each participating cyclist.

Coffs Harbour International Buskers and Comedy Festival

The International Buskers and Comedy Festival involves a huge number of shows in 15 different venues over six days. Wear sensible shoes and tale provisions including water. The fascinating Mungo walking track, in Myall Lakes National Park, is a feast for the body, mind and senses. A delightful collection of walks combine to create this absorbing track which joins Mungo Brush campground on the shores of Bombah Broadwater to Hawks Nest. It's a long yet easy walk, taking in some important Aboriginal and post-colonial heritage sites, landforms and diverse vegetation.

Casino Spring Orchid Show

Casino and District Orchid Society is hosting its annual Spring Orchid Show in the Anglican Church Hall Casino. The Show includes flowering orchid displays, pot plants and bromeliads, potting demonstrations and sale tables of orchids and pot plants. Adelaide Swift Art Award

The Adelaide Swift Art Show is a prestigious event with entries for seven categories coming from far and wide. There will be approximately 180 exhibits in all mediums. Total prize money: AUD4,500. The Adelaide Swift Art Initiative is funded from the estate of a former resident of South West Rocks. It was her gift to the community to encourage visual artists to broaden their learning's in the art arena. The show will be located in the South West Rocks Public School Hall and entry is free.

Flatrock Wavesailing State of Origin

Free entry - a great day out for all! Iluka Pool and Sports Association Inc (IPSA) is a not for profit organisation committed to raising funds to help procure a pool and sporting complex for Iluka. This is a huge task, but with their small and dedicated committee...and those they rope in to help from time to time, they are confident their goal will be achievable! FFA National Youth Championships

Hosted by Northern NSW Football, the FFA National Youth Championships for both boys and girls, are national tournaments with teams from all member State Federations of FFA competing against one another to reign as National Champions. The Championships are an integral part of the FFA national youth development and identification process providing a showcase for the best 13 and 14 year old boys and 14 and 15 year old girls from all states. The National Youth Championhships for boys will be held from 29th September 2014 with the next National Youth Championships for girls set to be held from the 7th July 2014.
