Brackets and Jam is a regular monthly event, featuring “brackets” of local music and performance interspersed with drum “jams" and open mic opportunities. Their Brackets South event takes place on top of beautiful Kincumba Mountain. The community built venue is a mud brick and natural timber building which sits in a bushland reserve, with panoramic views of Brisbane water and magnificent sunsets over the hills beyond. This venue is the birthplace of Brackets and Jam on the Central Coast and the community considers it as it's spiritual home. The Mountain itself holds a strong significance for their Aboriginal community, and has been a long standing meeting place for Central Coast people. The rock outcrop situated in front of the kiosk forms a natural pool which is said to have once been a sacred birthing place for women. The Mountain now gives birth to many new beginnings as the hub of creative community arts in the southern Central Coast region.

Sydney Symphony Orchestra - Alessio Bax performs Mozart

Alessio Bax plays Mozart’s transcendent final piano concerto, Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture transports you to the wild isles of Scotland and Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony packs a punch with its unstoppable energy. Mendelssohn visited Scotland’s Hebridean Islands when he was twenty. The incredible seascape and the otherworldly Fingal’s Cave inspired one of his best known works, and one of the greatest soundscapes in orchestral literature. Mozart's final piano concerto stands apart for its sober perfection and innocent directness. The concerto’s slow movement suspends time with a melody as serene as it is simple, played with disarming grace by Alessio Bax, a pianist who communicates the radiance of this music. This is one of the composer’s most personal works: reflective, nostalgic and songful. And Beethoven releases his inner child in his fizzy Symphony No.8 – short, and seriously playful. Overshadowed by its bigger siblings, the Eighth is cheekily radical music. Instead of a grand statement, this is the symphony as a bundle of vivacious energy.

The Gospel According To Paul

A Soft Tread Production. Written and performed by Jonathan Biggins. One of Australia’s favourite performers, Jonathan Biggins, is Paul Keating – visionary, reformer and rabble-rouser – in a highly anticipated new comedy, The Gospel According to Paul. Full of intelligence and wit, The Gospel According to Paul is a funny, insightful and occasionally poignant portrait of Paul Keating. the man that - as he tells it – single-handedly shaped contemporary Australia. Jonathan Biggins’ performance as Paul Keating is well known from the long-running Sydney Theatre Company success story, The Wharf Revue. Beyond the canny impersonation, Jonathan, like so many Australians, has long been fascinated by Keating and what Keating means to Australia. Showcasing his eviscerating wit, rich rhetoric and ego the size of Everest, The Gospel According to Paul distils Keating’s essence into 75 minutes, focussing on key biographical milestones, landmark political achievements and personal obsessions. It shows the man who grew up in the tribe of the Labor Party and gained an education at the knee of Jack Lang, who treated economics as an artform, and demanded we confront the wrongs of our colonial past.

The Clapton Unplugged Show

The Clapton Unplugged Show the man… the music… celebrating Eric Clapton and his legendary Unplugged Concert ……Layla….Signe …..Before You Accuse Me….Running on Faith….. ……Tears In Heaven…..Wonderful Tonight…I Shot the Sheriff… Eric Clapton’s career has spanned over six decades. Lauded as being the greatest guitarist of all time, his roots are firmly and obviously embedded in the blues tradition of which he remains both a student and visionary. In his unforgettable ‘Unplugged’ Concert, Clapton paid homage and respect to his roots and those fellow legends that influenced his playing so significantly. The music was minimalist, alternating between his reworked pop songs such as Layla, the traditional blues of Robert Johnson and Bo Diddley and new songs, including Tears in Heaven, that were an outpouring and expression of a difficult period of his life. It was honest, real, fun, at times raw and very very special! The ensuing Album release won three Grammy Awards and sold in excess of 26 million copies worldwide. ‘The Clapton Unplugged Show’ features the inspired vocals and guitar playing of Mark Shelley who, with his long term band, respectfully recreates the magic of that event. Support Act – ‘The Songs of James Taylor’…the consummate Singer Songwriter.

André Rieu's Maastricht Concert Erina

André Rieu’s annual hometown Maastricht concerts attract fans from all corners of the globe. The medieval town square is transformed into a spectacular backdrop for unforgettable concerts filled with humour, fun and emotion for all ages—and, of course, magnificent music. This year’s theme is a dedication to the waltz. The majestic waltz has been such an inspiration to André Rieu throughout his career that its three-four beat has become, in many ways, the rhythm of his life. From an international football match at Amsterdam stadium in 1995, when André filled the half-time interval with a performance of a classic waltz, to his Maastricht concerts of 2011, where André premiered ‘And The Waltz Goes On’, composed by Oscarâ-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, this popular dance has often taken centre stage. André has composed many waltzes and since 1987, he and his Johann Strauss Orchestra have been delighting audiences all over the world with their magnificent renditions of classic waltzes. See Eventfinda for more information.

Daniel Thompson's Johnny Cash Live: San Quentin 50 Years On

In 1969, off the back of the huge success of 1968's 'At Folsom Prison' album, Johnny Cash recorded the second of his legendary prison albums at California’s notorious maximum security prison, 'At San Quentin'. With the 'Folsom' album kick starting a golden era of Cash’s career, 'At San Quentin' continued his meteoric rise to his place as a legendary figure and icon of 20th century popular music. During the February 24 recording session, in typical Johnny Cash fashion, he got the already enthusiastic inmates on side with his song 'San Quentin' which opens with the lyrics "San Quentin, you’ve been living hell to me" and he immediately replayed the song at the request of his cheering audience with both versions included on the original release of the 'At San Quentin' album. Most notably the album included the worldwide smash hit single, A Boy Named Sue, which undeniably made Cash a global superstar and household name. Sue became Cash’s highest ever charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was only held out of the number one spot by the Rolling Stones ‘Honky Tonk Women’.
