The Wonders of the Hannah Cabinet
The Hannah Cabinet is Geoff Hannah’s masterpiece and was made over a six year period using 34 different Australian and international timbers, four species of shell and 17 varieties of precious stone with extensive marquetry inlays on 18 doors and on, and in, 140 drawers. Gemfest is the biggest annual lapidary show in the country. Large numbers of traders with minerals, gems, fossils, jewellery, tools and equipment from all over the world. The best provincial longboarding in Australia will feature120 longboarders from Victoria to the Sunshine Coast competing in the annual Evans Head Malibu Classic, formally the Evans Head Longboard Invitational. Over the long weekend there will be live music, barbecues and refreshments available and on the public holiday Monday a beachside market. The annual euchre tournament is here again and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever. Lismore Lantern Parade
Now in its 25th year, the spectacular Lismore Lantern Parade is a weekend festival of activities celebrating the Winter Solstice in June. Activities begin on Friday, June 21 with a Gala Concert at Lismore City Hall featuring Moorambilla Voices and the Northern Rivers Festival Choir. Saturday, the fun starts in the CBD from 10am with markets stalls, rides, games, a buskers festival, kids arts, crafts, games and lantern making workshops. At 5.30pm, the Lantern Parade winds its way through the heart of Lismore’s City Centre with spectacular, larger than life lanterns, illuminated sculptures, parade bands and performers. Making their way to the Quad for a where it climaxes with a breathtaking outdoor theatre featuring fire performance, bonfire and fireworks. There will be market stalls and street food feasts and a very special ticketed dinner to celebrate this year’s 25th birthday. To celebrate this year’s ‘Rivers of Light’ theme, there will be a special event after the Piazza in the Park at Riverside Park from 5.30pm until 6.30pm where a flotilla of canoes, kayaks and tinnies carrying lanterns will meander down the Wilson’s River at dusk. The Friendship Festival pays tribute to Lismore’s friendship relationship with Conegliano in the Veneto of northern Italy with a marketplace festival in Spinks Park to celebrate the contribution made by Italian settlers to the district over the last 100 years. Blue Moon Cabaret
The Nimbin School of Arts has been producing a series of hugely popular Blue Moon Cabarets for over 20 years. The Cabarets present a wonderfully diverse array of the performance arts: comedy, poetry, music, dance ensembles, acrobatics and circus. The licensed events feature an evening of fine food, wines and stunning entertainment that have developed into sellout shows over many years. The Cabarets are held three times each year in March, August and October. Tickets and table reservations are available at least six weeks before each show. Nimbin Poetry World Cup
The annual NPPWC is held on the first weekend of September and is sponsored by the community of Nimbin. Thanks to all the volunteer support the event is growing in size and reputation each season. After the Saturday heats and Sunday semi-finals, eight finalists perform at the Nimbin Town Hall for the Grand Final Prize on Sunday night. An exciting annual event showcasing unbelievable and exceptional wordsmith talent from wide and far. Since the first NPPWC in 2003, hundreds of performers have entered the annual event and displayed their talent to an appreciative audience. Poets have eight minutes to perform one or more poems. The Nimbin Country Show had its beginnings in 1919 and is the first show in the North Coast show circuit. The show is held each year in September and is a traditional style agricultural show with horses, cattle, poultry, dog trials, arts, crafts, fruits, vegetables, and horticulture. This year’s Nimbin Show will be the 100th, and the Nimbin A and I Society’s members and volunteers intend to mark the milestone with a number of special events and innovations. Richmond Valley Christmas Street Party
Set in the heart of the Richmond Valley, the streets of Casino will come to life with the spirit of Christmas when Richmond Valley Council hosts its annual Christmas Tree Lightup and Street Party on Thursday 5 December. The CBD will be closed for great entertainment to start from 6pm until 9pm. Visitors can enjoy Christmas carols, amusements, markets, delicious food, face painters, and of course a visit from Santa and his Elves. More entertainment will include pooches on parade just after 6.30pm, student performances and a fireworks finale around 8pm. The Tropical Fruits New Year's Festival is a celebration held in the city of Lismore in sub-tropical Northern NSW, an area rather appropriately known as the Rainbow Region. This is a celebration of LGBTI culture, which has a strong presence in the region. For 2017 the four day Tropical Fruits New Year's Festival includes: Street Parade (Molesworth Street), New Year’s Eve Party (Showgrounds), Pool Party Recovery (Lismore Memorial Baths) and Recovery Party (Showgrounds).

ANZAC Day Lismore
*** Latest event details are yet to be confirmed *** Returned and Services League of Australia - City of Lismore Sub Branch ANZAC Day committee wishes to invite the community to Lismore's ANZAC Day March and Services, commemorating the fallen from Gallipoli and all other subsequent wars and deployments in which Australian Defence personnel have been involved - this year will also celebrate the Centenary of ANZAC. The Dawn Service is at 5am. Departing the Old Post Office on the corner of Magellan and Molesworth Streets, proceed along Molesworth Street to the Cenotaph located at Lismore Memorial Baths. The March commences at 9am. Departing Clyde Campbell car park, proceed along Molesworth Street to the Cenotaph located at Lismore Memorial Baths.
