Yes Yes Yes Yes: Graphics from the 1960s and 1970s touring exhibition

Discover the playful spirit, visual energy and political thrust of graphic art from the 1960s and 1970s. These decades were an exciting period in art, when advances in printmaking techniques and the ever-increasing power of mass-media provided artists with diverse and innovative ways to communicate their art to a wider audience. The exhibition features works from the Art Gallery of NSW’s international collection by renowned artists including Joe Tilson, Eduardo Paolozzi, Sigmar Polke and Gerhard Richter. Inspired by the title of a work by Joe Tilson, the phrase ‘yes yes yes yes’ evokes the democratic spirit and ethos of technical innovation shared by many of these artists and their printers, who sought to distribute ‘fine art’ imagery more broadly through methods of mechanical reproduction.

From Somewhere: Todd Fuller

In this period Fuller reflected on his early memories to the area, holidaying with his family as a child. With the memories of the sea air and the sense of freedom it brings in his mind, Fuller went onto produce a body of work that would encapsulate this sense of nostalgia. To see the ocean for the first time was born – the feature animation work in the From Somewhere exhibition. A narration through line and tone, a series of drawing and paintings, Fuller breathes life into the many tales and stories told about the local (now passed) larrikin, who much like Fuller found solace in the beautiful ocean air of Port Macquarie. He exhibited across Australia and internationally including the United States, Italy, France, South Korea, Bangladesh, England, Singapore and Malta. He has undertaken international residency at the Cite International Des Art in Paris, and at the British School in Rome. He has also been invited to participate in a number of domestic residencies including Bundanon, Grafton Hill and Blacktown. Spawn the Drift is a race car event that will be held over two days on the Easter weekend 2019 at the Port Macquarie Go Kart Track. Drifting is a driving technique where the driver intentionally over steers, with loss of traction in the rear wheels or tyres, while maintaining control and driving the car through the entirety of a corner. Pre- sale tickets will go on sale soon at a discounted price. On both days they are offering a Drift Hot lap of the Port Macquarie track (almost two kilometres in length with around 16 turns) to passengers over 18. (Cash only on the day). This is a real thrill experience that you won't forget. On Easter Sunday there will be a real family focus. There will be an appearance from the Easter Bunny and an Easter Egg Hunt. There will also be face painting, pony rides, an ice-cream truck and a jumping castle and inflatable slides for the children. For the adults we are running a Mechanical Bull ride competition.
