From Somewhere: Todd Fuller

In this period Fuller reflected on his early memories to the area, holidaying with his family as a child. With the memories of the sea air and the sense of freedom it brings in his mind, Fuller went onto produce a body of work that would encapsulate this sense of nostalgia. To see the ocean for the first time was born – the feature animation work in the From Somewhere exhibition. A narration through line and tone, a series of drawing and paintings, Fuller breathes life into the many tales and stories told about the local (now passed) larrikin, who much like Fuller found solace in the beautiful ocean air of Port Macquarie. He exhibited across Australia and internationally including the United States, Italy, France, South Korea, Bangladesh, England, Singapore and Malta. He has undertaken international residency at the Cite International Des Art in Paris, and at the British School in Rome. He has also been invited to participate in a number of domestic residencies including Bundanon, Grafton Hill and Blacktown. Angelica Mesiti - Relay League Exhibition

This message sent by Morse code in 1997 was the poetic starting point for artist Angelica Mesiti as she embarked on creating her exciting new work: Relay League. The message was not, as one may assume, a desperate transmission sent from a sinking ship, but rather, the final message signalling the end of the use of Morse code sent by the French Navy. In her latest work, Mesiti takes the dots and dashes of this forsaken language and brings them to life in a three-channel video installation. "Calling all. Sydney Symphony Orchestra: Port Macquarie

The Sounds of Spain with Guitar Virtuoso Slava Grigoryan and Beethoven’s Third Symphony. The Sydney Symphony Orchestra comes to Port Macquarie with internationally renowned guitarist Slava Grigoryan. Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez is the perfect vehicle for Grigoryan: colourful, elegant and virtuosic, conjuring the stately atmosphere of the Palace of Aranjuez – the Spanish Versailles. Bizet’s Suite from Carmen provides a perfect introduction into the sound world of Spain with its combination of French elegance and Spanish colour. The Suite No.1 brings together the most famous moments from Bizet’s famous opera, from the rattling castanets of the Aragonaise, to the triumphant music of the Toréadors. Beethoven’s Third Symphony was a musical revolution matched only by his famous Ninth. Of a scale previously unmatched by the great symphonists Haydn and Mozart, its grandeur is befitting of its “Heroic” title and remains one of Beethoven’s greatest compositions. The Celtic Tenors – The Irish Songbook Tour Port Macquarie

When you put together three brilliant Tenor voices with natural Irish charm, singing spine-tingling Classical, Folk, Irish, Gaelic and Pop favourites in stacked three-part harmonies, then mix them up with quick witted banter, you have The Celtic Tenors. The charismatic globe-trotting trio are the most successful classical crossover artists ever to have come out of Ireland and are returning to Australia in May and June 2019. They just sing songs they love, and they most certainly don’t take themselves too seriously. It’s all about the music, the harmonies and the fun. Three unique solo voices, but when called upon—one tenor sound! While each of The Celtic Tenors have been influenced by the musical traditions from their own individual parts of Ireland, Daryl Simpson, James Nelson and Matthew Gilsenan show great flexibility in melding their voices to suit the appropriate genres. The Celtic Tenors will also perform The Irish Songbook on their Australian tour with such classics as Finnegan’s Wake, In The Gloaming, Song For Ireland, Danny Boy, The Dutchman, Caledonia, You Raise Me Up and many more favourites.
