Arts, Crafts and Quilts - Annual Exhibition
The Lower Clarence Arts and Crafts Association's Annual Open Arts and Crafts Exhibition will include displays of fine art, patchwork and quilting, creative needlework, fabric and fibre design, jewellery and photography. There will also be a number of daily demonstrations and crafts stalls. The school canteen will be open daily for snacks and refreshments. Australian National Goanna Pulling Championships
The offbeat, all Australian sport of Goanna Pulling dates back to the nineteenth century. Contrary to the name, it's a test of strength between two people, whereby contestants get down on all fours and are linked by a leather belt over their heads, enabling them to pull backwards, tug of war style. Enter on the day for your chance to win cash prizes in the Men's and Ladies' Age and Weight Divisions. The Goanna Pulling Championship includes many other events on the day including wood chop, men's, ladies' and children's novelty races, dog obedience trials, tug of war teams, market stalls, and food and drinks. Ay Pachanga is the Latin party of the year. Following sell-out shows in Sydney, Ay Pachanga celebrates the world's largest Latin label, Fania Records, and the music that made it famous. Brooms Head Family Fun Day
Dust off the excesses of the night before and join in with some family fun at Brooms Head. There are a multitude of races including sprints, distance, family relay, beach boat races, sandbag races, water carrying tug of war and the only place in Australia where you can compete at tossing a broom head in Brooms Head. Fiona is a blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, who has been recording and performing for more than 25 years, building a career that has taken her to major festivals and stages around the world. Equally at home on acoustic or electric guitars, her repertoire is like a Blues travelogue. Listen to her play and you'll hear pre-war Delta slide, wailing laments, single chord Mississippi Hills grooves, intricate and beautiful finger picking, rollicking New Orleans barrelhouse, greasy Memphis soul, driving classic Chicago sounds, the country stylings of Texas Swing, and the uptown sounds of the West Coast. The Grafton Farmers Market continues to attract new stallholders while still maintaining its core of regulars. The market is held weekly on a Thursday, in the Christ Church Cathedral Op Shop Car Park on the corner of Duke and Fitzroy Streets. There is street parking available. Grafton Jacaranda Festival
From the last weekend in October to the first weekend of November every year the longest running floral festival in Australia, the Grafton Jacaranda Festival, is held under canopies of purple blossoms. The festival commences regally with the crowning of their Jacaranda Queen and Princesses. Local arts, crafts and sporting groups take the week long opportunity to showcase their work. The city of Grafton comes to a standstill on Jacaranda Thursday with the main street lined with market stalls, rides and entertaining skits performed by local businesses. The mighty Clarence River is a spectacular backdrop for the Riverlight event on Friday evening where spectators line the riverbank to watch local performers before a fantastic finale of fireworks. The festival culminates with a float parade of enormous proportions on Saturday afternoon followed by a sunset family concert on the Riverbank. Sunday morning, for one last chance to tread the Jacaranda blossom carpeted streets, there is a Fun Run which includes a run across the famous bendy bridge.

Grafton July Racing Carnival
The Clarence River Jockey Club, located in the picturesque jacaranda tree lined city of Grafton on the NSW North Coast, is home to the richest non-metropolitan carnival in Australia, the famous Grafton July Racing Carnival. Grafton Open Art Exhibition
The Grafton Open Art Exhibition was established in 2013 by members of the Grafton High P and C. The opening night is a free event with live music and nibbles. The purpose of the exhibition is to allow emerging and professional artists in the area to display their work and gain exposure. The exhibition is also for students both primary and secondary, to showcase their works and celebrate their skills. The exhibition is open to all schools in the Clarence Valley, most mediums are excepted with prizes in all categories. Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic
This one day event, beginning in Grafton passing through Glen Innes and finishing in Inverell, is a 228 kilometre ride over some of the most demanding terrain in worldwide cycling, starting at 25 metres above sea level and climbing to 1060 metres, then finishing in Inverell at 590 metres. The race is six to seven hours long, depending on weather conditions. The Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic is one of the main events throughout the year in world cycling. Each year at the finish line in Vivian Street, Inverell where various street activities are held. Why not bring the family along and enjoy the carnival atmosphere.

Jacaranda Dragon Boat Races

Loving Life Day is an annual community fun day with free stage entertainment, free family activities, market stalls and food vendors, all in the centre of Grafton. Maclean Highland Gathering
Grab your kilt and get to Maclean, the 'Scottish Town in Australia'. Walk among the clans that invade the town for the Highland Gathering every Easter from around the country. Piping competitions take place non-stop at different venues, as well as street concerts with dancers, pipers and singers. Tim The Bream Yamba Fishing Classic
Yamba's famous annual 'Tim the Bream' national fishing titles will return to Ford Park Yamba NSW and the Clarence River in August with a prize pool of over AUD30,000. The featured prized catch for catching tagged 'Tim The Bream' is worth a whopping AUD20,000 with another 10 tagged fish having a value of AUD1000 each. There will be prizes for the heaviest Yellow Fin Bream, Flathead, Luderick, Jew Fish (or Mulloway), Trevally and Whiting in a catch, weigh and release competition. The main weekend event , held by Yamba Rotary, is at Ford Park Yamba with daily prizes for biggest catch of the day.
