Australian National Goanna Pulling Championships
The offbeat, all Australian sport of Goanna Pulling dates back to the nineteenth century. Contrary to the name, it's a test of strength between two people, whereby contestants get down on all fours and are linked by a leather belt over their heads, enabling them to pull backwards, tug of war style. Enter on the day for your chance to win cash prizes in the Men's and Ladies' Age and Weight Divisions. The Goanna Pulling Championship includes many other events on the day including wood chop, men's, ladies' and children's novelty races, dog obedience trials, tug of war teams, market stalls, and food and drinks. Big River Brew Fest
The annual quest to find the best home brewers in the Clarence Valley culminates in the Big River Brewfest Home Brew Competition. Their team of judges have the unenviable task of deciding which backyard brewer will take out the prize. The competition is open to all homebrewers (over 18 years of age, of course). Bridge To Breakers Sailing Classic

Brooms Head 3Bs Fun Run
***LATEST EVENT DETAILS ARE YET TO BE CONFIRMED*** The Brooms Head 3Bs fun run takes place in June each year and raises funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. One of the very best courses in NSW, run over five and ten kilometres through beautiful coastal scenery over bitumen, bush and beach. Organised by the Maclean Lions Club and with generous support from the Brooms Head Bowling Club, this event is kilometre marked, marshalled and timed. It's an ideal training run for the Gold Coast Marathon weekend in July. A great event for all ages, including prams, walkers and families.

Brooms Head Family Fun Day
Dust off the excesses of the night before and join in with some family fun at Brooms Head. There are a multitude of races including sprints, distance, family relay, beach boat races, sandbag races, water carrying tug of war and the only place in Australia where you can compete at tossing a broom head in Brooms Head. There are market stalls through the park with food and refreshments available on the day. Gold coin donation is appreciated. This event is run in collaboration with Wires, Gulmarrad Bush Fire Brigade, Lions, and Lower Clarence Rugby League Club.

Family Fun Day
Fun for young and all will be had at Rotary Club of Yamba's Annual Family Fun Day. Mr Steve Machel has become the resident expert Sandologist for the Family Fun Day sand modelling competition and offers contestants hints and tips before this popular event at Yamba's Main Beach. Come down to Main Beach early and watch his design take shape using nothing more than sand, water, bucket, a butter knife and brush. Teams of four then compete against each other in making their own sand modelling design. Cars, sea creatures, mythical animals, space creatures and the traditional sandcastles are seen each year. They have a junior section (under seven year olds) and a senior section (over seven) with trophies for the winning teams. Only natural items found on the beach can be used in the design and the use of normal beach bucket and spade is allowed to carry water and sand. No house hold garden equipment will be allowed. There is a barbecue sausage sizzle and steak burgers held by Rotary and the beach kiosk is always open. Entry fee is per team with all money going to Yamba Rotary for use on local projects.

The Grafton Agricultural Show is celebrating its 150 year anniversary in 2016 and will be held over a two day period. Grafton Bridge To Bridge Ski Classic
The Grafton Bridge to Bridge is a 108 kilometre water ski race from Grafton to Harwood Bridge and return, with boats reaching speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour towing two skiers. The event attracts competitors from Australia, New Zealand and the USA, and is considered one of the toughest events on the water ski racing calendar. The 2016 running of the event will be the 43rd Bridge To Bridge Ski Classic and includes live music, food vendors, and attractions for the whole family.

Grafton July Racing Carnival
The Clarence River Jockey Club, located in the picturesque jacaranda tree lined city of Grafton on the NSW North Coast, is home to the richest non-metropolitan carnival in Australia, the famous Grafton July Racing Carnival. Jacaranda Dragon Boat Races
A spectacle usually seen only in metropolitan areas, the Jacaranda Dragon Boat Races held on the beautiful Clarence River in Grafton is the largest regional dragon boat event in New South Wales. With over 30 teams competing in a variety of categories, this is an event well supported and loved by locals and visitors alike. Maclean Highland Gathering
Maclean is known as the 'Scottish Town in Australia' and clans invade the town for the highland gathering from around the country. Piping competitions take place non-stop at different venues, as well as street concerts with dancers, pipers and singers.
