Acting as a gateway to the Clarence Country, the Great Dividing Range and the many tributaries of the
Clarence River is Grafton. Celebrating over 150 years, Grafton was the first city on the north coast and is steeped in history with many beautiful examples of colonial architecture. Watch the city come alive each October in a haze of purple blooms for the Jacaranda Festival, the oldest family floral festival in Australia. Grafton is also home to the world’s first hang glider, which made its first successful flight along the Clarence River in 1963. A trip to the nearby historic river port of Ulmarra reveals a heritage listed town full of delightful treasures in the Antique and brick-a-brack shops.
