Trent Munro

Born in Sydney but living in the legendary Scotts Head and owner of the Trent Munro Surf Academy, Trent Munro has been carving up the waves on The Legendary Pacific Coast and all over the world for years.

Trent started surfing before he could swim, tucked up on the front of his dad’s surfboard and by age six he’d joined the family competing at Scotts Head Boardriders’ Club.  Graduating to national competition, Trent won the 1997 Australian Junior Title, blitzing the field with wins in four events before moving through the World Qualifying Series (WQS) and on to the elite ASP World Tour in 2000.

Winner of the ASP’s “Rookie of the Year” title in 2001, Trent worked his way into the top 20 and in 2005 finished sixth in the world rankings. Among numerous highlights during 10 years on the pro tour, Trent’s proudest moment was holding the famous clanging bell trophy aloft as winner of the 2005 Rip Curl Pro at Australia’s Bells Beach.

Having added an Ocean Safety Surf Coach Award and Advanced Resuscitation Certificate to his 20 years’ experience as a competitive surfer, Trent is among the best-credentialed surf coaches in NSW.  The Trent Munro Surf Academy runs two and three day learn to surf camps for beginners through to coaching clinics for intermediate and advanced surfers at Scotts Head.
