Australia’s Most Accessible touring route – many ways to travel and tour
The Legendary Pacific Coast (TLPC) touring route is primarily a self drive FIT touring program but can extend to train travel, fly/drive or coach transport along Australia’s most popular travel corridor.
The Pacific Motorway
Sydney has numerous tunnels and tollways operating in parts of the city. Many of these operate on electronic tags or a pass, check with www.rms.nsw.gov.au for more details. Once across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, look for signs directing you to the Pacific Highway. From the Pacific Highway, take the M1 heading north from Sydney.
If travelling north from Brisbane, note they also have a network of tollways. For more information go to tmr.qld.com.au
Take extra care when towing a trailer, camper or caravan and always ensure your vehicle is roadworthy for the trip.
Self-drive, hire a car or campervan or even take a coach or bus to discover Australia’s top touring drive. Along the Motorway you will find Rest Area Information Bays that provide information on upcoming towns, villages, attractions and experiences. Look out for The Legendary Pacific Coast logo on the advanced warning blue and white rest area signs to get this information.
The Pacific Motorway upgrade is currently the biggest infrastructure upgrade taking place in Australia. As the motorway is being upgraded you might encounter traffic delays. Check www.livetraffic.rta.nsw.gov.au to plan for any possible delays.
