Start your stay in Byron getting your bearings with a brisk walk to the most easterly point of the Australian mainland, walking through the rainforest around the escarpment to fill your senses with the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean. Reward yourself with breakfast, coffee or fresh juices at one of the cafes along the route either The Pass or Clarkes Beach. Then head to the markets for a true Byron experience, immersing yourself in the local food, clothing, artisan goods and the culture.
Explore the village of Bangalow with a main street full of choices to dine and shops to discover and walk off your meal, all very close and very civilised.
Take a trip through the hinterland to Crystal Castle and explore this enchanting and magical attraction, walking through the gardens of giant crystals, sacred statues and the World Peace Stupa.
Grab fish and chips, Mexican, Middle Eastern cuisine or Japanese from one of the many restaurants close to Main Beach and take it down to the beach front to listen to the drummers. Now experience the Byron nightlife, you will find live music, buskers, comedians, dj’s and more.

Up for a yoga session first thing at one of the many yoga classes or schools throughout Byron, including “Hot” yoga, then grab a fresh juice or locally grown coffee at your accommodation or the many cafes in the heart of Byron Bay. Grab your towel and swimmers and head to Clarkes beach to join the kayak tour with dolphins, heading out toward the Cape or head to Brunswick Heads and enjoy a boat trip up the Brunswick River with a kayak on the still water.
Brunswick Heads offers a fantastic range of lunch options including the Brunswick Hotel with one of the greatest beer gardens in Australia.

Brunswick Heads – The morning
Discover idyllic Torakina River beach and take a rejuvenating dip in the gentle waves – don’t be surprised if you’re joined by dolphins. Then hit the main beach for some serious surfing fun between the flags. Or why not take a trip down memory lane and explore the town’s interesting history on our one hour self-guided Historical Walk (all maps available from the Visitor Centre, 7 Park St) including the new community seat honouring the life of local historian Frank Mills.
Enjoy fish and chips with a view by the beautiful Brunswick River while the kids make friends at the local playground.

Brunswick Heads – The morning
Discover our town’s unique, creative soul and meet our artisans at Lucy Vanstone Ceramics, Into the Woods, Mina Mina Gallery (indigenous art), Fabulous Mrs Fox, Lazybones and Peace by Piece (bespoke shoes and leather goods). We’re also renowned for collectables and old wares, and boast 11 Brunswick Heads shops on the Northern Rivers Secondhand Trail, so go shopping and take home some treasure.
Our village is bursting at the seams with delicious food. Try some delicate, handmade pasta dishes at Park St Pasta Bar or just go straight to a decadent, New York inspired “cronut” with your coffee. Experience vegetarian utopia on the sunny deck at Yami or head to Brunswick Health Foods. Or choose from the scrumptious fresh dishes on offer at Footbridge Café, Torakina Café or The Terrace Espresso Bar to name a few and eat your way around town!
Work off lunch by hiring a kayak or Stand Up Paddle (SUP) board from Brunswick Buccaneers (the pirate ship in the river, opposite the pub) and paddle up the north or south river arms to discover protected hidden beaches and our stunning estuary landscapes.Add to my itinerary
