Mount Warning

Traversing the ancient volcanic caldera, Mount Warning Wollumbin is the backdrop for rambling bush walks, country drives, art galleries and leisurely lunches. Towering over Murwillumbah and the Tweed Valley in far north-eastern New South Wales, Mount Warning is the central core of the southern hemisphere’s largest extinct shield volcano. The area was named “Wollumbin”, meaning “cloud catcher”, by the Bundjalung people. It is the first place on Australia’s mainland to be touched by the morning sun with the village of Uki nearby.
