Tourist drives

Ballina – Hinterland Way

Ballina, Skennars Head, Lennox Head, Lake Ainsworth

Tourist Drive 30 is a coastal drive from Ballina’s town centre and follows the river to the coast. It then takes one of the most scenic beach drives in this country to Lennox Head and continues north to Byron Bay.

Starting in River Street Shopping, River Street, Ballina you can pop in to the Ballina Visitor Information Centre, visit the Ballina Naval & Maritime Museum, enjoy a free guided tour of the historic Ballina Manor or stretch the legs and enjoy a walk along Ballina’s Waterfront Heritage Trail.

Heading towards the coastline, over Missingham Bridge you have stunning views of the north and south breakwalls and the mouth of the Richmond River.

Lighthouse Beach is one of the most popular beaches, stroll along the North Wall and observe the Coast Guard, enjoy a coffee at the Surf Club and take in the views at Ballina Headland. You will see the lighthouse on the hill behind the lookout.

Stunning coastline will take you past Shelly Beach, Angels Beach, Flat Rock, Sharpes Beach & Boulders Beach all the way to Pat Morton Lookout which overlooks Lennox Point, one of the top ten surf breaks in Australia. Laid-back Lennox Head is a Mecca among surfers and along the Main Street you will find boutiques, funky cafes and restaurants and, just down the road, the tea-tree stained waters of Lake Ainsworth.
