Coffs Coast – Tourist Drive 18
Repton, Raleigh, Bonville, Boambee, Sawtell, Muttonbird Island, The Harbour Foreshore
Tourist Drive 18 winds its way alongside the Old Pacific Highway at Repton past the blue waters of the Bellinger River near Raleigh Winery into coastal bushland close by the beautiful Valery Trails Horse riding Centre, Pine Creek mountain bike tracks and Australia’s best Golf Resort with hatted Flooded Gums Restaurant at Bonville Golf Resort. Visit the delightful Butterfly House on Strouds Road before turning to the beaches in sunny Sawtell.
Take time to surf, swim, dine in the fig tree lined village in Sawtell and whale watch in from the headland off Baronia Street before driving north past Boambee Bay Reserve to Hogbin Drive toward Coffs Harbour. Pass the Southern Cross University, airport and 24th fairway of the Coffs Harbour golf course before turning right onto Harbour Drive toward the Jetty and Marina areas.
Enjoy the Jetty strip of restaurants, bars and cafes before crossing the railway lines to reach the iconic Jetty, Marina and Muttonbird Island – home to thousands of breeding Wedge-tailed Shearwaters. Take a stroll along the north break wall for some views to the Solitary Islands Marine Park while feasting on fresh fish and chips by the ocean.
While in the area you might want to take part in trips for deep sea fishing, scuba diving, snorkelling or sailing. Beach camel rides are also available at the southern end of the Jetty Foreshores. The Harbourside Markets are here every Sunday, or try surf rafting, stand-up-paddle boarding or some surfing lessons.
Next, back onto Orlando Street and past Dolphin Marine Magic where you can enjoy a seal kiss before crossing over Coffs Creek. Head up to the roundabout and backtrack, turning left under the overhead railway lines to reach Park Beach – the city’s main leisure beach. To wrap up your full day of activities, turn up Park Beach Road which will take you to Park Beach Plaza the largest retail centre in the region.Add to my itinerary
